It is impressive with the latest announcement made by TIME naming a 15-year-old as the first-ever Kid of the Year!
An Indian-American from Colorado, Gitanjali Rao has been awarded this title from among 5,000 US-based nominations. This young scientist has leveraged technology to solve problems ranging from contaminated drinking water to cyberbullying. She aims to create a global community of young innovators.
Though there have been mixed reactions on the internet scrutinizing the need to put pressure on children, one has to also recognize that today’s generation is a step ahead. They have their own mind and own voice to speak up.
Parent expectations will continue to remain, it has in the past for ages and it will be for years to come. After all, there has been an innate and inherent human need to expect better from their offsprings.
As rightly said by #1 best selling author, Robin Sharma, “No kid is unsmart. Every kid’s a genius at something. Our job is to find it. And then encourage it.”
Finding that talent and encouraging it will create the next generation of innovators, pressurizing will not!
We should give these buds the opportunity to blossom. Who knows with little encouragement, the problems (climatic, economic, social and more) that generations have created till now, may get wiped out and it will be a clean healthy canvas once again, for our future generations to paint a beautiful world!
