Inspiration can come from multiple sources. My inspiration for writing has evolved from time to time. Right from my childhood when I was inspired to write something for my mother (my first poem) to writing a full fledged mystery thriller book – The Housewife which put me in the list of published authors!
The inspiration for the latter was hugely contributed by the series I have enjoyed watching – “Murder, She Wrote” featuring Angela Lansbury as playing the lead character Jessica Fletcher.
As my readers know, the topic of women empowerment is very close to my heart. I also thoroughly enjoy reading mystery/thriller genre. So when I stumbled upon this crime/murder mystery series on Prime Video, it was natural that I was immediately attracted to this show. Here was the lead character, a female character, a widowed former school teacher who turns into a super successful murder mystery writer.
This show was primarily aired on Sunday evenings for 12 seasons with 264 episodes from 1984 to 1996. The show which had on an average more than 30 million viewers per week then and probably still runs on some cable channel 24 hours a day.
I was inspired to write, yes to write my first murder mystery book “The Housewife“. Though writing has been my passion from my childhood, taking the first step towards becoming an author was not something I had envisioned myself doing. But when i was watching this series, I believed if the character, a common woman, a widow can become a published author after she retires, why not me! With my successful launch of my first book “The Housewife” and the second book (a sequel) already underway to be published only proves to show that “dreams do come true” and “anything is possible” after all, IMPOSSIBLE also says I M POSSIBLE! We need to hang in there!
I recently got to know that the show was mostly shot in the beautiful town of Mendocino in California, USA, shown as a fictional hometown of the character Jessica Fletcher -“Cabot Cove” in addition to be shot in the studios of Hollywood.
I obviously couldn’t resist myself to see the house in real (Blair House), the one that was showcased as Jessica Fletchers home in the show. So I pulled my family for a little weekend getaway in Mendocino and simply fell in love with this place all over again. My favorite place in fiction – Cabot Cove from the show and my favorite place in reality – Mendocino, both being one and only and beautiful either ways!
Enjoy some of the pictures of the beautiful landscapes of Mendocino, California.
